WASHINGTON - Georgetown University volleyball's junior middle blocker Symone Speech (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the fourth time this season, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Speech led the Hoyas (8-20, 2-14 BIG EAST) with double-digit kills in back-to-back matches as the Blue & Gray snapped a 12-match losing streak over the weekend. She became just the 14th player in program history to amass 1,000 career kills, reaching the milestone at Marquette on Friday night.
Averaging 3.43 kills per set, Speech tallied 11 against the Golden Eagles and another 13 in a 3-1 victory at DePaul. She also added five blocks and pair of service aces against the Blue Demons. Georgetown closes out the 2017 season this weekend at home against Providence and Creighton.
