WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's tennis team had a big come-from-behind over University of Massachusettts-Amherst on Friday. Victoire Saperstein (Las Vegas, Nev./Odyssey Charter School) won the pivotal clinching match 7-6, 4-6, 7-6 at No.1.

"Awesome win today," said Georgetown Head Coach Gordie Ernst. "Senior captain Victoire Saperstein stepped up and won 7-6 in the third set after being down a match point. She's been doing it her whole career. When the match is on the line she gets tougher and tougher. I'm so proud of her."

The Minutemen took an early advantage in the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. At No.1 the duo of Saperstein and Risa Nakagawa (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif./Palos Verdes Peninsula) were tied at 5-5 when the doubles point was clinched by UMass.

The Hoyas won three other single matches in straight sets. Sydney Goodson (Great Falls, Va./Langley High School) won at No. 4, 6-3, 3-1, Cecilia Lynham (Chevy Chase, Md./Holton Arms School) won at No. 5, 6-1, 6-1, and Drew Spinosa (Claremont, Calif./Claremont) won at No. 6, 6-1, 6-4.

Georgetown returns to the court on Tuesday, February 14 when it hosts Temple at Arlington YMCA at 12:30 p.m.
