Feb. 16, 2017

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team (15-9, 7-7 BIG EAST) will host a pair of BIG EAST opponents at McDonough Arena in the final home weekend of the season. On Friday, Georgetown will face Butler University (5-20, 2-12 BIG EAST) at 7 p.m. On Sunday, the Hoyas will host Xavier University (11-14, 3-11 BIG EAST) in a 2 p.m. matchup. Both games will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network with Ben Gordon-Goldstein and Monika Moore calling the action. Friday will also be broadcast live locally on MASN2.

Junior guard Dorothy Adomako (Midlothian, Va./Cosby) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday after helping the Hoyas to a 1-1 week in conference play. It was the fourth-consecutive week that a Hoya has been on the honor roll.

Adomako averaged 19.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and a .571 shooting percentage for the weekend. The junior totaled 18 points and two boards in a 77-60 victory at Seton Hall on Friday. On Sunday, she led the team with 21 points and five rebounds in a tough 65-54 loss at St. John's. The guard is second on the team and fifth in the BIG EAST in scoring averaging 14.6 ppg. She ranks second in rebounds with 6.7 rpg which sits her at sixth in the league. Adomako is also second on the squad with 28 blocks which puts her at eighth in the league.

Sophomore guard Dionna White (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill) leads the team in scoring with 16.2 ppg which ranks her third in the conference. She also has 5.2 rpg and is ranked second on the squad in assists with 69 on the season. White has 77 steals on the year to lead the BIG EAST and rank 13th in the nation. Her 3.4 steals per game leads the league and is 10th in the country. The sophomore is also shooting .819 (59-of-72) from the line to sit at fourth in the league.

Rounding out those in double figures is senior forward Faith Woodard (Brandon, Fla./Freedom) with 14.0 ppg and a team-high 7.9 rpg, and she also has a squad-best 36 blocks on the year. The Hoyas are shooting 38.6 percent on the season, and hold a +3.5 advantage in rebounding margin over opponents. The team is also averaging 9.7 steals per game.

Against two of the top three teams in the BIG EAST standings, Sydney Shelton averaged 18.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and drained 42.9 percent of her attempts from beyond the arc in Butler's homestand against Marquette and No. 18/16 DePaul last weekend. For her efforts, she was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. Also of note, Tori Schickel ranks sixth in the NCAA in total rebounds (281) and comes in at 9th in the country in rebounds per game (11.2).

The Hoyas are 3-4 all-time against the Bulldogs and 2-1 at home. Earlier this season, White led the Hoyas with 29 points in a 58-52 victory at Butler. In the last meeting at McDonough, Georgetown won, 49-35, as Dominique Vitalis posted a double-double.
