WASHINGTON - Georgetown University senior women's soccer player Grace Damaska (Milton, Ga./Blessed Trinity) and senior men's track & field runner Darren Fahy (Carlsbad, Calif./La Costa Canyon) were named as recipients of the 2016-17 BIG EAST Institutional Scholar-Athlete Scholarship, presented by Sunkist.

Each institutional winner receives $2,000 toward graduate studies. Twenty student-athletes (one male and one female from each of the BIG EAST's 10 member institutions) will be named as BIG EAST Institutional Scholar-Athlete award winners.

Damaska helped the women's soccer team to its most successful season in program history, advancing to the NCAA College Cup and winning the BIG EAST Tournament Championship for the first time. The Hoyas finished the season with a 20-3-3 overall record. A Second Team Scholar All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), Damaska is an accounting major who carries a 3.37 grade-point average. A three-time BIG EAST Academic All-Star selection, Damaska was an NSCAA First Team Scholar All-East Region selection. Damaska, an All-BIG EAST First Team selection, finished second on the team with 33 points, including a team-leading 14 goals. She ranked tied for No. 20 in the country in goals scored and tied for No. 34 in the country in total points (33). Her 14 goals scored are the second-most in a single season at Georgetown.

Fahy is a two-time All-American and a BIG EAST individual and team champion. He has won the steeplechase at the outdoor BIG EAST championships, competed in the NCAA finals of the event and taken on the country's very best in the event at both the USATF finals, where he was a finalist in 2015, and the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials, where he was a semifinalist. Off the track he is a two-time BIG EAST academic all-star as a finance major and has participated in community service events with Teens Run DC as part of the track & field / cross country program.
