WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's tennis team went 0-2 on Thursday. The Hoyas were defeated by Utah State by a score of 6-0 and fell to Loyola Marymount by a score of 4-2.
Utah State got off to a quick start by winning all six of the singles matches in straight sets. The doubles point was not factored in as those matches were not played.
At No. 3 Marco Lam (Hong Kong, China/Diocesan Boys' School) and at No. 5 Ian Witmer (North Palm Beach, Fla./The Benjamin School) both fell after competitive first sets by a score of 7-5, 6-3.
In the second match of the day, the Blue & Gray picked up wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles. At No. 3 Michael Chen (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel High School) won 7-6, 6-1 and Jack Murphy (Coronado, Calif./La Jolla Country Day) won at No. 4 by a score of 7-6, 0-6, 6-4. Once again the doubles matches were not played and no doubles point was awarded.
The Hoyas return to action on March 16 when they host Wagner at 11 a.m.
