Hoyas Fall to Villanova

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's tennis team was defeated by Villanova by a score of 5-2 on Sunday. The Hoyas dropped to 12-5 on the season while Villanova improved to 9-15.

The Wildcats got off to a strong start by taking the doubles point. The Blue & Gray picked up a win in doubles at No. 1. Risa Nakagawa (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif./Palos Verdes Peninsula) and Sydney Goodson (Great Falls, Va./Langley High School) won by a score of 6-2.

Villanova continued its strong performance into singles play by winning four matches. GU would pick up two wins. Nakagawa recorded her second win of the day by winning at No. 3, 7-5, 7-5 and Daphne de Chatellus (Tiburon, Calif./Redwood) won at No. 5 by a score of 6-2, 6-4.

Georgetown returns to the court on Thursday, April 27 when it begins BIG EAST Championship play in Cayce, S.C. Seedings will be on Monday evening.
