Madsen, Berman Earn All-Region Honors

June 8, 2017

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University junior men's golfers Sam Madsen (Madison, Wis./Cardinal Gibbons [Fla.]) and Cole Berman (Philadelphia, Pa./The Haverford School) were among a group of players across six regions nationally to earn Division I PING All-Region selections by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

The pair of Hoyas were among players selected from the Northeast, East, Southeast, Midwest, Central and West Regions. A total of 154 golfers were recognized nationally.

Berman and Madsen were two of four players from the BIG EAST Conference to earn PING All-Region honors.

This was the second postseason recognition for the duo, as both earned All-BIG EAST honors. Madsen was selected All-BIG EAST First Team, while Berman was named to the second team for the second-straight year.

Madsen led the team with a 73.57 stroke average this year and was tied for the team lead in rounds played (30). He had three top-five finishes this year and five among the top 20 overall. Madsen finished in second place at the Georgetown Intercollegiate in the fall (9-under par 204) and closed out the regular season with a second place showing at the Rutherford Intercollegiate (1-under par 212). He finished in seventh place at this year's BIG EAST Championship, following a showing as the runner-up in 2016.

Berman, an All-BIG EAST Second Team pick last year as a sophomore, was second on the team with a 73.67 stroke average in 30 rounds. He shot a 3-over par 219 and finished in fifth place at the BIG EAST Championship. Berman had two top-10 finishes this year and four among the top-20 overall.
