Women's Golf Announces Fall Schedule

Aug. 16, 2017

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University Head Women's Golf Coach Kate Schanuel announced the team's schedule for the 2017 fall season, which features the Hoyas playing in five tournaments.

Schanuel is starting her first season at the helm of the Blue & White after spending seven seasons as the head coach at Towson University.

The Hoyas open the season competing in the Rutgers Invitational on Sept. 9-10 at the University Golf Course. This will be the team's first appearance in the Rutgers Invitational since the 2013-14 season. The Blue & Gray won its first tournament in program history at Rutgers in 2002.

Following a week break, the team returns to play at the Boston College Invitational from Sept. 23-25.

Georgetown plays in the Princeton Invitational on Sept. 30-Oct 1. The event will be held at the Springdale Golf Club in New Jersey. The Hoyas finished in second place at Princeton last year and rising senior Jacquelyn Eleey (Quincy, Mass./Taft) was the individual winner two years ago.

The team then takes a trip out west to play in the University of Washington Invitational on Oct. 10-11.

The Blue & Gray close out the fall season on Oct. 30-31, playing in the USF Invitational, which will be held at the TPC Tampa and hosted by the University of South Florida.

Georgetown had its best season in program history last year, winning the BIG EAST Championship and advancing to an NCAA Regional for the first time. The team set the school record for lowest round in program history, lowest 54-hole team score and ended the year with six of the top-10 all-time tournament scores. Rising junior Alexa Popowitz (Boca Raton, Fla./St. Andrew's) was named the BIG EAST Player of the Year, while Eleey and rising junior Christina Parsells (Bernardsville, N.J./Kent Place) earned All-BIG EAST honors.
