WASHINGTON - Georgetown University announced the spring lightweight and openweight women's rowing racing schedules on Thursday.
Lightweight
The lightweight program opens the spring campaign at the nearby Occoquan Challenge on March 25 before traveling to Boston to defend the Class of 2006 Cup against Harvard Radcliffe on March 31.
Back-to-back events in New Jersey, at the Knecht Cup on April 14-15 and at Princeton in the Class of 2006 Cup on April 29, serve as the final tune ups for the Blue & Gray before the Eastern Sprints on April 29 in Worcester, Massachusetts. The Hoyas wrap up the season at the IRA National Championships on June 1-3.
Openweight
The openweight squad opens the spring campaign at the Occoquan Challenge as well. Coming off their best finish at the Patriot League Championships a year ago, the Hoyas look to build towards another strong season with a race-heavy schedule.
Following the Occoquan Challenge, the Hoyas take part in the two-day GW Invite including the Georges Cup against George Mason and the host Colonials on the opening day. The Blue & Gray then takes part in the inaugural Cherry Hill Invitational, racing against UConn, Jacksonville, Marist, Rutgers, SMU, Fordham and league foes Bucknell, Boston University, Holy Cross and MIT.
In their lone dual race of the season, the openweights will travel to face North Carolina in the Class of 2006 Cup on April 28 before racing in the Patriot League Championships on May 11.
