WASHINGTON– Five members of the Georgetown University women's tennis team competed at the ITA Regionals last week in Lynchburg, Virginia, hosted by Liberty University.
Risa Nakagawa (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. / Palos Verdes Peninsula),
Elena De Santis (Avellino, Italy / Convitto Nazionale P. Colletta),
Sofie Moenster (Oslo, Norway / Ordup Gymnasium) and Lindsay Zimmermann (Green Bay, Wis. / Hilton Head Preparatory) all competed in the singles draw and
Cecilia Lynham (Chevy Chase, Md. / Holton Arms School) and Moenster paired up in the doubles draw. The five day event hosted over 20 teams from the East Coast.
In doubles play, Moenster and Lynham lost 8-3 in a hard fought match against Camila Moreno and Mario Noguera Perez from Pittsburg.
In the singles draw, Nakagawa fell to Viva Laas from the University of Delaware in the round of 32 after winning her first set, 6-3. De Santis battled her opponent from Virginia Commonwealth University to three sets in the consolation draw but lost after taking the early lead, 6-4.
Zimmermann and Moenster each picked up a win in the backdraw of the singles competition to round out the weekend for the Blue & Gray.
The Hoyas will close out their fall tournament schedule when they travel to Boston for the three-day Harvard Invite on Friday, Nov. 2.
