WASHINGTON – Coming off a third-place finish at the Wildcat Fall Invitational, Georgetown University's men's golf team will travel to compete in the Health Care Mountaineer Invitational, hosted by West Virginia beginning on Monday, Oct. 8. The two-day, three-round event will take place at the par-72, 7,308-yard course at the Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, West Virginia.
Monday's action features 36 continuous holes starting at 8:30 a.m. with the final 18 holes beginning at 8 a.m. on Tuesday. Live scoring for the event can be found at www.GUHoyas.com.
At last weekend's Wildcat Fall Invitational, junior
Patrick DiPasquale (Rochester, N.Y. / McQuaid Jesuit) finished in a three-way tie for medalist honors. He shot rounds of 72, 71 and 72 to finish 2-over par 215 for his first career tournament victory. Fellow junior
Eduardo Blochtein (Delray Beach, Fla. / Spanish River) posted a top-10 finish as well, tying for 10th overall with rounds of 73, 73 and 72 for a 5-over par 218.
As a team, the Hoyas finished in third place with a three-round score of 873.
Competing for the Blue & Gray will be DiPasquale, Blochtein,
Hardin Councill (High Point, N.C. / Westchester Country Day),
Will O'Neill (Morristown, N.J. / Morristown) and
Noah Moss (Bethesda, Md. / Walter Johnson). Blochtein leads the Hoyas with a 72 stroke average while DiPasquale owns a 74 average. O'Neill has a 74.4 stroke average and Councill is right behind him at 74.8. The tournament will be the first action for Moss as a Hoya.
Other teams participating in the Health Care Mountaineer Invitational include host West Virginia, Rutgers, James Madison, Akron, Boston College, Seton Hall, Bowling Green, Winthrop, Davidson, St. John's, Eastern Kentucky, Ohio and Marshall.
Following the tournament, the Hoyas return home to host the 34th Georgetown Intercollegiate on Oct. 15-16 and the Members Club at Four Streams in Beallsville, Maryland.
