Kenzie Higareda (Woodbridge, Va. / Forest Park) was named the BIG EAST Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. Additionally, fellow senior
Alyssa Sinnette (Pearland, Texas / Dawson) was selected to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
Georgetown closed out the 2018 season with a pair of 3-0 sweeps over Xavier and Butler. The Hoyas finished the season 17-13 overall and 10-8 in BIG EAST play to tie for fourth place. Georgetown's 17 wins are the most since 2004 and the 10 conference wins are the most since 2001.
Higareda led the Hoyas with 29 digs for a 4.83 digs per set average in the two sweeps. She tallied 14 digs against Xavier and added another 15 against Butler. Xavier hit negative (-0.10) against the Hoyas thanks to the stout GU defense. Higareda closed out her Georgetown career with a school-record 1,990 digs.
Sinnette led the Hoyas with 3.83 kills per set over the weekend. She opened the weekend with 13 kills against Xavier and added 10 kills and 10 assists for a double-double against Butler. Sinnette also had three service aces and three blocks on the weekend.
