WASHINGTON – Georgetown University graduate student
Trey Mourning (Miami, Fla. / Ransom Everglades) was selected to the BIG EAST Weekly honor roll as announced by the league on Monday. It is the first honor of Mourning's career.
Mourning tallied a career-high 27 points shooting 57.1 percent from the field (8-14) to lead all Georgetown scorers as the Hoyas defeated the Campbell University Camels 93-85 on Saturday afternoon at Capital One Arena. Mourning added a career-high 12 rebounds to mark the first double-double of his career. With the win, the Hoyas improved to 5-1 on the season.
The forward has started all six games for the Blue & Gray and is averaging 9.3 ppg and 6.2 rpg in 26.2 mpg. Mourning is fourth in scoring for the Hoyas and third in rebounding. He has made his presence known particularly on the offensive glass as he leads the team in offensive rebounds with 14 and averages 2.3 per game to tie for fifth in the BIG EAST.
Georgetown is back in action on Wednesday, Nov. 28, as the Hoyas take on the University of Richmond at Capital One Arena. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. in the Nation's Capital. The game will be shown live on CBS Sports Network and can be heard locally on WOL 1450 AM with Rich Chvotkin in his 45th season on the call.
