Women's Tennis Falls Short Against Towson, 4-3

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's tennis squad fell to the Towson Tigers on Tuesday afternoon, 4-3, at Yates Field House. With the loss, the Hoyas are now 0-3 in the regular season.

In doubles, Georgetown won all three matches against the Tigers. Senior Drew Spinosa (Claremont, Calif,/Claremont/University of San Diego) and junior Cecilia Lynham (Chevy Chase, Md./Holton Arms School) won their match over the Tigers, 6-3, while junior Risa Nakagawa (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif./Palos Verdes Peninsula) and senior Casey Marx (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham) defeated their opponents, 7-5. Junior Sydney Goodson (Las Vegas, Nev./Langley High School) and senior Sara Swift (Vail, Colo./Saint Edward's School/Wake Forest University) earned the third match in doubles for the Hoyas, 6-3.

In singles, Nakagawa got the victory, 6-4, 6-1, while Spinosa also won both sets, 6-2, 6-2.

The Hoyas will be back in action on February 23, as the squad will face Xavier to open up BIG EAST conference play. The math is set for 6 p.m. in Cincinnati, Ohio.
