Women's Tennis Falls to Xavier in BIG EAST Opener

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's tennis team lost to Xavier, 5-2, in the season's BIG EAST opener. The Hoyas won the doubles point, but with the overall loss, GU falls to 0-4 in the regular season and 0-1 in conference play.

In doubles, junior Risa Nakagawa (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif./Palos Verdes Peninsula) and senior Casey Marx (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham) defeated their opponents, 7-5. Additionally, senior Drew Spinosa and her partner, junior Cecilia Lynham (Chevy Chase, Md./Holton Arms School), won, 7-5.

In singles, senior Daphne de Chatellus (Tiburon, Calif./Redwood) won both of her sets against the Musketeers.

The Georgetown women's tennis team will be back in action on Sunday at William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. The match is set for 11 a.m.
