WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's tennis squad was defeated by Old Dominion on Friday afternoon in Norfolk, Virginia. The Hoyas fell to the Monarchs, 7-0. With the loss, GU slips to 1-8 on the season while ODU improves to 13-4.
In singles, senior Drew Spinosa (Claremont, Calif,/Claremont/University of San Diego) fought a close battle against her opponent, Yulia Starodubtseva, but fell short in each set, 7-5, 6-3.
In doubles, Spinosa and junior Sydney Goodson (Las Vegas, Nev./Langley High School) lost to Starodubtseva and Adriana Rajkovic, 6-3. Additonally, senior Daphne De Chattelus (Tiburon, Calif./Redwood) and freshman Sophie Henderson (Las Vegas, Nev./Odyssey Charter School) also lost to their oppponents, Louie McLelland and Holly Hutchinson, 6-3.
The Blue & Gray return to action on Saturday, March 17, to face Middle Tennessee State. The match is set for 1 p.m. in Norfolk, Virginia.
