WASHINGTON - Georgetown University's men's golf shot an opening round 285 and sits in fourth place after the first round of the FAU Spring Championship, hosted by Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton, Florida.
Eduardo Blochtein (Delray Beach, Fla./Spanish River) carded 70 to lead the Hoyas and tie for 12th place while Jack Musgrave (Chesterton, Ind./Andrean) shot a 71 to tie for 18th overall. Sam Madsen (Madison, Wis./Edgewood/Cardinal Gibbons [Fla.]) and Cole Berman (Philadelphia, Pa./Haverford School) rounded out the scoring with matching 72s to tie for 26th. Patrick DiPasquale (Rochester, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit) shot a 75 to tie for 65th.
UConn leads the tournament with an opening round 273, followed by Lynn (281), Houston Baptist (282) and Georgetown. Bethune-Cookman (288), Hartford (289), Stetson (289) Jackosnville State (290) and the host Owls (291) complete the top 10 while Oakland (292), Murray State (293), Hofstra (297), DePaul (298), Monmouth (298), North Dakota State (298), Manhattan (299), Morehead State (306) and Canisius (307) rounded out the field.
The Hoyas hit the links once again on Saturday for the second round, beginning at noon.
