WASHINGTON - Georgetown University's men's lightweight rowing team opened the spring racing season with a pair of home meets against nationally-ranked opponents over the weekend. The 10th-ranked Hoyas raced No. 3 Princeton on Saturday evening on the Potomac River for the Fosburgh Cup before welcoming No. 6 Delaware to the Nation's Capital on Sunday.
"This weekend was a great demonstration of what it means to race versus what it means to put together a good row," Lightweight Varsity Coach Lee Rumpf said. "We did neither of the two against Princeton and only the latter against Delaware. In the Second 8, we have serious work to do. The Third 8 showed a lot of grit and determination this weekend against both opponents. I hope their style of racing filters up over the next two weeks in preparation for our Yale/MIT and Harvard/Columbia races."
