April 3, 2018 ECU Intercollegiate - Final 
WASHINGTON - Sam Madsen (Madison, Wis./Edgewood/Cardinal Gibbons [Fla.]) shot a 218 and won the 2018 ECU Intercollegiate in a three-way playoff while the Georgetown University men's golf team finished second on Tuesday afternoon. The Hoyas shot a 302 in the final round for a final score of 886 to finish one stroke behind the winners from host East Carolina.
Madsen birdied the final par-3 hole to card a 74 on the day and force a three-way tie at 218 for individual medalist honors. In the playoff, he continued his success to win the sudden-death showdown in the second playoff hole on 18.
Patrick DiPasquale (Rochester, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit) matched Madsen's 74 while Cole Berman (Philadelphia, Pa./Haverford School) shot a 75. Jack Musgrave (Chesterton, Ind./Andrean) and Eduardo Blochtein (Delray Beach, Fla./Spanish River) both shot a 79 in the final round.
Berman tied for 11th with a three-round score of 223 while Musgrave was tied for 14th at 224. Blochtein was right behind at 226 to tie for 22nd and Pasquale rounded things out with 230 and a tie for 32nd.
East Carolina (885) won the event by one stroke followed by Georgetown (886) and Campbell (887). Charleston Southern (897) and Elon (898) both posted sub-900 scores, followed by Radford (902), Gardner-Webb (907), Old Dominion (909) and High Point (918).
The Hoyas return to action at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday at Springdale Golf Club in New Jersey.
