WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's golf team carded a 54-hole score of 80-over par 944, finishing 17th at the challenging Bryan National Collegiate this weekend in Greensboro, N.C. The three-round, two day tournament was played at the par-72, 6,386-yard Bryan Park Champions Course.
The Hoyas recorded rounds of 308, 309 and 327 to finish 17th among a 17-team field that included 11 programs ranked among GOLFSTAT's top 50, including six in the top 25. No. 21 Wake Forest (888) won the event while No. 7 Furman (893), No. 22 Auburn (897), No. 24 North Carolina (897) and No. 9 South Carolina (898) rounded out the top five.
Junior Christina Parsells (Bernardsville, N.J./Kent Place) was Georgetown's top finisher, recording her third top-10 finish of the year with a 6-over par 222 to finish in a tie for eighth place. She carded an even-par 72 in Friday's second round.
Senior Jacquelyn Eleey (Quincy, Mass./The Taft School) and junior Alexa Popowitz (Boca Raton, Fla./St. Andrew's) finished one stroke apart, recording scores of 22-over par 238 and 23-over par 239, respectively. Eleey tied for 66th overall, while Popowitz tied for 68th.
Junior Pendleton Bogache (Myrtle Beach, S.C./Episcopal [Va.]) tied for 83rd with a 29-over par 245 and sophomore Ashley Fitzgibbons (Sammamish, Wash./Eastlake Senior) carded a 36-over par 252 to place in a tie for 91st.
The Hoyas will next look to defend their title at the 2018 BIG EAST Championships. The three-day tournament will take place the weekend of April 20-22 at the Callawassie Golf Club in Callawassie S.C.
