Women's Golf Sits in 17th Place at Austin Regional

AUSTIN, Texas - The Georgetown University women's golf team carded a 16-over par 304 during Tuesday's second round and remains in 17th place with a two-day score of 30-over par 606 at the NCAA Austin Regional, hosted by the University of Texas. Play took place at the par-72, 6,341-yard University of Texas Golf Club.

The Hoyas were sitting at 8-over par on the day after junior Pendleton Bogache (Myrtle Beach, S.C./Episcopal [Va.]) birdied the fifth hole, GU's 14th hole of the day due to the shotgun start. However, seven bogeys and two double bogeys over the final four holes dropped the Blue & Gray back to 17th, where they had started the day.

Georgetown, seeded 16th of the 18 teams in the regional, is 32 strokes ahead of Missouri State and just two strokes back of No. 30 Miami. No. 3 Arkansas, which carded a 17-under par 271 on Tuesday, is leading the field with an overall 21-under par 555. No. 8 Texas (566) and No. 14 Florida (578) round out the top three. No. 35 Baylor, Virginia Tech, No. 21 Oklahoma and No. 38 Texas A&M all sit at 5-over par 581 and in a four-way tie for fourth, battling for the final three advancing positions as the top six teams advance to the National Championship.

Senior Jacquelyn Eleey (Quincy, Mass./The Taft School) was at even par for the first 14 holes, but a bogey, double bogey, bogey left her at 4-over par 76 for the day. She chipped in from off the green on the 18th hole to save par and give her a two-day score of 8-over par 152. She is tied with Bogache as Georgetown's top scorer and for 60th overall in the individual standings. Bogache carded a 3-over par 75 on Tuesday.

Junior Alexa Popowitz (Boca Raton, Fla./St. Andrew's), who was Georgetown's leading scorer with a 1-under par 71 after 18 holes, finished with a 10-over par 82 on Tuesday to give her a two-day total of 9-over 153, tying for 70th.

Junior Christina Parsells (Bernardsville, N.J./Kent Place) rebounded from a 9-over par 81 on Monday to turn in Georgetown's best score of the second round. She fired a 1-under par on the back-9 to card a 1-over par 73 for the day. She climbed 14 spots in the individual rankings and sits in a tie for 73rd with a 36-hole score of 10-over par 154.

Sophomore Ashley Fitzgibbons (Sammamish, Wash./Eastlake Senior) had a pair of double bogeys on the back-9 to give her an 8-over par 80 for the second round. She is tied for 81st with a two-day total of 14-over par 158. .

The regional will conclude on Wednesday when teams tee off in the third and final round beginning at 9 a.m. ET. The Hoyas will again begin play on the 10th hole at 10:50 a.m. ET and will be paired with No. 48 East Carolina and Missouri State. A link to the live scoring will be available at GUHoyas.com.
