WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's golf team earned 2018 18Birdies All-Academic Team accolades, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Friday. To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors a college or university must have GPAs of 3.00 or higher and submit the GPAs for each player on its official squad list for the academic year.
A record 222 teams earned 18Birdies All-Academic Team recognition in 2018, including 127 at the NCAA Division I level. The Hoyas were one of six BIG EAST teams to garner the honor.
Georgetown posted a 3.41 team GPA in 2017-18, including 10 of the 11 student-athletes with at least a 3.00. Over the course of both semesters, Hoyas earned a pair of First Honors (3.90 and above), five Second Honors (3.70 and above) and three Dean's List (3.50 and above) recognition.
Just as impressive on the course as in the classroom in 2017-18, Georgetown won their fourth BIG EAST Championship in program history - the second in the past three seasons - and went on to compete in the Kissimmee Regional at the NCAA Golf Championships.
