Schedule Changes Announced for Dig The District Invitational

WASHINGTON – With the impending impact of Hurricane Florence affecting multiple upcoming volleyball tournaments, the Dig The District Invitational, co-hosted by Georgetown University and George Washington, has announced schedule changes over the weekend.

Loyola Maryland and Morgan State will join the field, replacing Hampton. Both the Greyhounds and Bears were slated to participate in now-canceled tournaments in North Carolina and Virginia, respectively. Hampton's athletics department suspended competition for all teams through Tuesday because of the storm.

Friday's action will now feature Morgan State and Georgetown playing at 2 p.m. on the Hilltop, followed by a neutral site match between Coppin State and Alabama A&M at 4 p.m. The nightcap will have Memphis visiting the Hoyas in McDonough Arena at 7 p.m.

Saturday's early match between Georgetown and Alabama A&M remains unchanged, followed by the Bulldogs and Morgan State squaring off at 3 p.m. The finale will see the Blue & Gray welcome Loyola Maryland to the Nation's Capital at 7 p.m.

The lone change at George Washington's site will have the host Colonials take on Morgan State on Friday at 7 p.m. All of Saturday's matches at the Smith Center remain as scheduled.
