Georgetown University's volleyball team is set to host the Dig The District Invitational this weekend, welcoming Alabama A&M, Coppin State, Loyola Maryland and Morgan State to the Nation's Capital.
The Hoyas will take on Morgan State on Friday at McDonough Arena before hosting Alabama A&M and Loyola Maryland on the Hilltop on Saturday. Friday's evening match, originally scheduled against Memphis at 7 p.m., has been canceled because the Tigers are unable to make the trip to the East Coast.

Three different Hoyas (4-5) average more than three kills a set, led by Iva Vukosevic (Bar, Montenegro / Niko Rolovic / UMES) with 3.56 a frame. Alyssa Sinnette

(Pacifica, Calif. / Lick-Wilmerding) adds 1.73 aps in a hybrid setter-defensive specialist role.
Defensively, Kenzie Higareda
(Woodbridge, Va. / Forest Park) anchors the back row with 4.62 digs per set while three other Hoyas chip in at least two digs a frame. Cusi is second on the squad with 2.89 dps, followed by Vujosevic and Sinnette with 2.66 and 2.14, respectively. At the net, Speech has been credited with 28 blocks on the season for an even 1.00 blocks per set.
One of the top threats in the nation from the service line, the Blue & Gray ranks 19th in Division I with 67 total aces for 1.8 aces per set. Higareda leads the Hoyas with 16 aces and leads the BIG EAST in the category while Vujosevic adds 13 and Pivonka has 10 aces.
Morgan State (5-6) comes to the Hilltop after a 3-1 weekend at the New Orleans Tournament with wins over Prairie View A&M, Jackson State and the host Privateers. Cristen Coryatt leads the Bears with 3.63 kps, while Zoe McBride is hot on her trail with 3.34 kps. The offense runs through Roi Wallace's 10.22 aps. Defensively, Jasmin Hubbard averages 4.10 dps while Kalysia Bates, Monette Daniels and Kheanna Landrum all average more than 0.60 blocks a stanza.
Georgetown is 6-0 all-time against Morgan State with its most recent win coming in a sweep in 2015.
Alabama A&M (3-9) comes to the Hilltop on a seven-match losing streak. Alana Cox leads the Bulldogs with 2.30 kps, while Megan Evans and Meredith Sieck run the 6-2 offense with 6.60 and 3.57 assists per set, respectively. Defensively, Maci Battle paces AAMU with 3.11 digs per set while Evans, Cox and Jackson chip in more than 0.70 blocks per frame.
This is the first meeting all-time between Georgetown and Alabama A&M.
Loyola Maryland is a late addition to the field after its trip to participate in the Campbell Volleyball Invitational was canceled because of Hurricane Florence. The Greyhounds host La Salle on Thursday night before taking on the Hoyas on Saturday.
Abby Hamilton and Ann Ernst pace Loyola with 3.76 and 3.62 kills per set, respectively. Molly Werts and Alaina Acchione run the offense with 5.79 and 4.47 assists per set. Defensively, Katie Forsythe's 5.72 digs per set pace the back row while both Mackenzie Fedota and Alisah Cash average more than a full block per set from the front row.
Georgetown is an undefeated 8-0 all-time against the Greyhounds. The two teams have never met in the rally scoring era however, with the last match coming as a 3-0 GU victory in 1999.
