Georgetown Falls at Dartmouth

HANOVER, NEW HAMPSHIRE – The Georgetown University football team fell on the road, 41-0, at Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon. The game was played at Dartmouth's Memorial Field. With the loss, the Hoyas fall to 1-2, while the Big Green open its season 1-0.

Blaise Brown (New Orleans, La. / St. Augustine / Loomis Chaffee) led the defense with 10 tackles, while Wes Bowers (Fort Washington, Md. / Bishop McNamara) added nine. Owen Kessler (Westfield, N.J. / Westfield) had an interception, while George Ikott (Sugar Land, Texas / Strake Jesuit) recorded GU's lone sack.

Gunther Johnson (Anthem, Ariz. / Boulder Creek / Arizona) finished 11-of-19 for 70 yards, and Skyler Springs (Leesburg, Va. / Briar Woods) caught three passes for a team-high 31 yards. Herman Moultrie III (Columbus, Ohio / Columbus Academy) led the rushing attack with 37 yards.

Brad Hurst (Helen, Ga. / White County) punted eight times, averaging 47 yards per kick. He placed three inside Dartmouth's 20-yard line, and had three punts of at least 50 yards, including a season-long 65-yard boot, which is tied for the 10th-longest punt in school history.

Dartmouth opened up a 6-0 lead with field goals on each of its first two possessions. The score remained the same until the second quarter when the Big Green connected on a 31-yard touchdown pass to go up, 13-0. A five-yard rushing touchdown right before halftime gave Dartmouth a 20-0 advantage at the midway point.

The Big Green scored again on its first drive of the third quarter to make it a 27-0 game.

Kessler came up with an interception, his second in as many games, to set the Hoyas up on the Dartmouth 30-yard line. However, on a 39-yard field goal attempt, Hurst slipped and his kick was blocked.

Dartmouth would turn around and score a touchdown with a minute remaining in the third quarter and, following a GU turnover, moved its lead to 41-0 on the first play of the fourth quarter.

The Hoya defense prevented another score as J'V'on Butler (Melbourne, Fla. / Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy) stripped the ball from the running back inside the 5-yard line and Justin Fonteneaux (Houston, Texas / Lamar) fell on it.

The Hoyas will return to Cooper Field for a Homecoming matchup against Columbia on Saturday, Sept. 22. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. and the game can be watched live on GUHoyas.com via the Patriot League Network. It will be the fourth annual matchup in the Lou Little Trophy series, with Georgetown having won two of the first three editions.

The Homecoming game, as well as GU's Family Weekend contest against Lehigh on Oct. 20, are both currently sold out. Visit WeAreGeorgetown.com/football closer to game day for updates on whether additional tickets will be made available on Saturday at Cooper Field.
