WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's soccer squad will travel to No. 10 Duke University on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. matchup with the Blue Devils at Koskinen Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on the ACC Network Extra through WatchESPN. The Hoyas are currently 3-2-1 overall with three nonconference games remaining.
On Monday, senior captain
Kyle Zajec (Westport, Conn. / Staples) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for his efforts in a 3-2 loss to Xavier in GU's BIG EAST opener on Saturday. Zajec connected on a penalty kick for the first goal of the game and also assisted on Georgetown's other goal for three points in the game. This is his first BIG EAST weekly award and the second for the Hoyas this season.
Sophomore forward
Derek Dodson (Aurora, Ill. / Waubonsie Valley) is leading the team in scoring with eight points on four goals on the year. He is followed by Zajec who has seven points for the season with two goals and a squad-high three assists. Junior forward
Achara (Enugu, Nigeria / Berkshire School [Mass.]) is next with five points on two goals and one assist, while senior
Ethan Lochner (New York, N.Y. / Stuyvesant) has three points on the year. In goal, freshman
Giannis Nikopolidis (Athens, Greece / Nea Genia Zirdi) has played in five games and tallied 19 saves with a 1.10 goals-against average.
Duke heads into the contest following a nine-day layoff after its ACC game versus North Carolina was postponed because of Hurricane Florence. The Blue Devils are 3-1-0 overall with the loss coming against then-No. 7 Louisville. Daniele Proch leads all scorers with five goals, while Kevin Feucht has two. Will Pulisic is the leader from the back in goal, last season he posted seven shutouts and earned All-ACC third team recognition.
The Hoyas are 1-2 all-time against the Blue Devils with the lone win coming during the 1994 season in a neutral-site matchup. The teams met last season at Shaw Field, but the Blue & Gray fell, 2-1. The lone goal came from Dodson in the 66th minute, but Duke came back and won with a goal just a minute later. The only meeting in Durham was a 10-0 Georgetown loss during the 1953 season.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Live stats and a link to WatchESPN will be available at
