WASHINGTON – Coming off of its second BIG EAST Championship in the past three seasons, the Georgetown University men's golf team opens the 2018-19 campaign at the Fuzzy Zoeller Invitational this weekend, hosted by Indiana at Champions Pointe Golf Club in Henryville, Indiana.
The two-day, 13-team event will begin on Saturday, Sept. 8 at the 7,174-yard, par 72 Champions Pointe Golf Club just north of Louisville, Kentucky. Other programs joining the Hoyas in in the season opener include the host Hoosiers, Bethune-Cookman, Bowling Green, Evansville, IUPUI, Oakland, Purdue Fort Wayne, Southern Illinois, Toledo, Western Illinois, Western Kentucky and Youngstown Stats.

"This is our first time competing in the Fuzzy Zoeller Invitational, and we are excited and honored to be a part of the field," Head Coach
Tommy Hunter said. "We had solid scoring in our qualifier which builds confidence as we begin the fall season."
Juniors
Eduardo Blochtein (Delray Beach, Fla. / Spanish River) and
Patrick DiPasquale (Rochester, N.Y. / McQuaid Jesuit) return from last year's championship lineup and will compete in the top two spots for the Hoyas in the Hoosier State. Blochtein, a BIG EAST All-Tournament Team honoree in 2018, posted a 73.70 stroke average in 27 rounds a year ago. DiPasquale carded a 74.61 average in 23 rounds last season.
Competing in the third spot will be sophomore
Will Rand (New York, N.Y. / Blair Academy [N.J.]). Rand saw limited action as a freshman, shooting a 230 (+6) at the Georgetown Intercollegiate in his only competition of the year.
Junior
Hardin Councill (High Point, N.C. / Westchester Country Day) will compete in the fourth spot. He posted a 76.25 stroke average last season and shot the third best round for the Hoyas on the year, a 69 (-3) at the Memphis Intercollegiate.
Rounding out the lineup is freshman Will O'Neil. (Morristown, N.J. / Morristown). O'Neill won the New Jersey individual state title as a junior at Morristown High School and recently qualified for the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship in the summer of 2018.
Following the weekend's tournament, the Hoyas are back in action on Sept. 28-29 at the Villanova Invitational in White Manor, Pennsylvania.
