WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's golf team finished the first round of the Fuzzy Zoeller Invitational in eighth place with a 5-over par 293 before heavy rains suspended the second round of action on Saturday afternoon. Five strokes separate the fourth to 11th place teams in the tournament at Champions Pointe Golf Club in Henryville, Indiana.

The Hoyas were six holes into the second round before the postponement. Sunday's action will resume at 8:30 a.m. with the completion of the second round before playing the third round. Live scoring for the event can be found at www.GUHoyas.com.

Eduardo Blochtein (Delray Beach, Fla. / Spanish River) led the Hoyas in the first round with a 2-under par 70 to sit tied for ninth overall.

Hardin Councill (High Point, N.C. / Westchester Country Day) and Will Rand (New York, N.Y. / Blair Academy [N.J.]) both carded an opening round 74 to tie for 36th while Patrick DiPasquale (Rochester, N.Y. / McQuaid Jesuit) and Will O'Neil. (Morristown, N.J. / Morristown) both shot 76 to tie for 56th.

Southern Illinois leads the field at 275, followed by Bowling Green (281) and host Indiana (282) as the only programs under par. Bethune-Cookman, Western Kentucky and IUPUI are all tied for fourth at 291, followed closely by Purdue-Fort Wayne (292), Georgetown (293), Oakland (294), Toledo (295) and Youngstown State (296). Western Illinois (299) and Evansville (301) round out the competition.

Following the weekend's tournament, the Hoyas are back in action on Sept. 28-29 at the Villanova Invitational in White Manor, Pennsylvania.
