Georgetown Wraps Up Three-Game Homestand Against Creighton on Monday

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team (12-6, 2-3 BIG EAST) closes out its three-game BIG EAST homestand as it hosts Creighton (10-8, 1-4 BIG EAST) at Capital One Arena on Tuesday night. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. and a link to live stats is available at GUHoyas.com.

The game can be seen live on FS1 with Justin Kutcher calling the play-by-play and Tarik Turner serving as the analyst. The game can be heard locally on The Team 980 radio station with Rich Chvotkin in his 45th season on the call.

The Hoyas are coming off a hard-fought 74-71 loss to No. 15/13 Marquette last Tuesday. Mac McClung (Gate City, Va. / Gate City) led the Hoyas with 24 points on a 7-of-11 effort from the floor including four 3-pointers. Jessie Govan (Queens Village, N.Y. / Wings Academy) tallied 14 points while Kaleb Johnson (South Hill, Va. / The Carlisle School) chipped in 12 points to round out those in double figures. Govan's nine rebounds led the squad while James Akinjo (Oakland, Calif. / Salesian College Preparatory) recorded a game-best eight assists.

Govan continues to pace the Georgetown offense with an even 19.7 points per game while Akinjo and McClung both average double figures with 14.1 and 13.4 ppg, respectively. Freshman Josh LeBlanc (Baton Rouge, La. / Madison Prep Academy) is just off the double-figure mark with 9.1 ppg and is tied with Govan for the GU lead in rebounding with 8.0 boards a contest.

Monday's showdown features the top two scoring offenses in the league with Creighton averaging 83.5 ppg with the Hoyas right behind with 82.8 ppg. Georgetown continues to be the top rebounding squad in the BIG EAST with 40.6 rpg and also leads the conference in assists with 17.5 apg.

Creighton has lost four-straight BIG EAST games following a league-opening victory over Providence in December. Four Bluejays average double-figures, led by Ty-Shon Alexander with 17.0 ppg. Martin Krampelj, Mitch Ballock and Marcus Zegarowski each add 11.2, 10.9 and 10.8 ppg, respectively. Krampelj is CU's top rebounder with 6.2 rpg.

Georgetown and Creighton have faced each other 12 times in program history with the series split evenly, 6-6. The Bluejays won both contests last season and have won three-straight in the series.

Following Monday's game, the Hoyas hit the road on Sunday, Jan. 27 as they take on St. John's at Madison Square Garden. Tipoff is slated for noon on FOX.
