WASHINGTON – Georgetown University volleyball's senior outside hitter
Iva Vujosevic was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. Vujosevic led the Hoyas to a 1-1 record over the weekend to open league play.
The Hoyas (11-5, 1-1 BIG EAST) split the week 1-1 to begin BIG EAST action. Georgetown posted a 3-2 come-from-behind victory at Providence in the league opener after dropping the first two sets. Georgetown then travelled cross-country to face No. 14 Creighton, falling 3-1 in Omaha. The loss to the Bluejays snapped an eight-match winning streak, GU's longest since 1999.
Vujosevic posted team-highs in kills in back-to-back matches. Opening the weekend with 14 kills, she added six digs and three service aces in the five-set marathon win at Providence. Vujosevic followed that performance with 15 kills and four digs at No. 14 Creighton.
Georgetown returns to the friendly confines of McDonough Arena over the weekend to open its home portion of BIG EAST play. The Hoyas welcome Butler to the Hilltop on Friday, Oct. 4 at 5 p.m. before taking on Xavier on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 3 p.m. Saturday's showdown against the Musketeers will also serve as Georgetown's DIG PINK! match.
