No. 5 Hoyas Travel to DePaul on Friday

WASHINGTON –  The No. 5 Georgetown University men's soccer team will head out on the road for a BIG EAST Conference matchup at DePaul University on Friday.  The contest will be held at Wish Field and is slated to kick off at 3 p.m. ET.  The Hoyas are currently 7-1-0 on the season and 2-0 in league play, while the Blue Demons sit at 4-5-1 for the year with a BIG EAST mark of 0-1-1.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown is coming off of a 2-1 victory over Providence on Saturday at Shaw Field.  With a 1-1 week, the Blue & Gray moved to No. 5 in both the United Soccer Coaches and TopDrawerSoccer.com polls.
  • There are two BIG EAST teams currently in the national rankings with the Hoyas at No. 5 and St. John's sitting at No. 12.
  • On Monday, Derek Dodson was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.  In Georgetown's victory over Providence, Dodson had a foot on both scores, tallying the first goal in the 48th minute off of a penalty kick, then assisting Foster McCune's goal in the 75th minute. He also took two shots in Georgetown's 1-0 double overtime loss to No. 17 Louisville on Tuesday.
  • Georgetown has had three players named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll this season.
  • Dodson leads the team in scoring with 11 points on three goals and five assists.  He is followed by Zach Riviere with four goals and one assist for nine points. 
  • Two players have eight points as Paul Rothrock has a goal and a squad-high six assists and Jacob Montes has four goals.
  • Rothrock is currently eighth in the nation in total assists and ninth in assists per game as the Hoyas sit in the top 10 in assists per game (5th), points per game (5th), scoring offense (6th) and assists (8th).
 
About the Blue Demons
  • DePaul is coming off of a 1-0 loss to Notre Dame Tuesday evening in South Bend, Ind.
  • The game winner came in the 90th minute to sink the Blue Demons on the road.
  • Two players lead the squad as Max De Bruijne has six points on two goals and two assists, while Jake Fuderer has posted six points with one goal and four assists on the season.
  • The team is currently 2-1-1 at home this year.
 
Series with DePaul
  • The Hoyas are 8-1-1 all-time against the Blue Demons and 4-0 on the road. 
  • Last year, Georgetown won 2-1 in overtime as Achara scored the game winner in the 95th minute.
  • The last meeting in Chicago was a 2-1 Hoya victory during the 2017 season.
