Hoyas Travel to Seton Hall for Midweek Tilt

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University volleyball team plays its first midweek match of the season as it travels to face Seton Hall in South Orange, New Jersey on Wednesday night in BIG EAST action. First serve is set for 7 p.m. in the Garden State.

QUICK HITS
•    Georgetown is 11-7 overall to start the season and has gone 1-3 in BIG EAST play to begin league action.
•    The Hoyas are coming off a tough 0-2 weekend with a pair of hard-fought five-set losses to Butler and Xavier.
•    Wednesday's road match breaks up a string of 5-of-6 contests played at McDonough Arena on the Hilltop.
•    The trip to New Jersey is a homecoming for a trio of Hoyas: Freshmen Kelly Chen, Emma Plutnicki and Makayla Serrett.

ROTATION NOTES
•    Six different Hoyas are averaging at least a kill per set.
•    Vujosevic leads the way with 3.74 kps, followed by Elissa Barbosa with 2.41 kps. Margo Snipe (1.82), Peyton Wilhite (1.59), Brennan Wilhite (1.33) and Riley Wertzberger (1.29) and round out the six.
•    Five Hoyas average at least two digs a set, led by Jessica Cusi's 3.67 and followed by Vujosevic (2.76), Barbosa (2.44), Plutnicki (2.16) and Chen (2.00).
•    Serrett and Brennan Wilhite are battling for the team lead in blocks, averaging 0.86 and 0.83 bps, respectively.
•    Plutnicki averages 8.19 assists per set to pace the offense with Margo Pivonka adds 4.29 aps.
•    Vujosevic has recorded 32 service aces on the year, followed by Cusi with 20 and both Plutnicki and Barbosa with 13 each.

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
•    The Georgetown and Seton Hall rivalry is one of the longest in program history for the Hoyas. Playing at least once every season since 1982, Georgetown owns a 33-18 all-time record against the Pirates.
•    Georgetown and Seton Hall split the season series in 2018, sweeping each other on their own home courts.
•    Seton Hall is 6-12 overall to start the 2019 campaign and has a 1-3 mark in league matches.
•    Haylee Gasser leads the Pirates with 2.87 kps, followed by Amanda Rachwal and Julia Wilkins with 2.05 and 2.33, respectively.
•    Maggie Cvelbar paces the offense with 7.50 aps.
•    On the defensive end, Raygan Murray anchors the back row with 4.09 dps and Rachwal is the top threat at the net with 0.71 bps.

Georgetown is idle over the weekend and returns to the Hilltop next week for three matches at McDonough Arena. The Hoyas host St. John's on Wednesday, Oct. 16, DePaul on Friday, Oct. 18 and No. 10 Marquette on Saturday, Oct. 19.
