No. 12 Georgetown Hosts Seton Hall at Shaw Field

WASHINGTON – The No. 12 Georgetown University men's soccer team will host the Seton Hall University Pirates in a BIG EAST Conference contest on Friday.  The opening kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Shaw Field.  The Hoyas are currently 8-1-1 on the season and 2-0-1 in league play, while the Pirates are 5-4 overall and 2-1 in the BIG EAST.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown is coming off of a 2-0 victory over Lehigh on Tuesday afternoon at Shaw Field.
  • The Hoyas opened the scoring early as senior captain Achara had the ball fall to his feet and he fired to the far post to make it 1-0 in the 13th minute.  It marked Achara's first goal of the season in just his second game back from injury.
  • In the 49th minute, junior Jacob Montes dribbled across the top of the box and fired past Will Smith for an unassisted goal, his fifth of the season, giving the Blue & Gray the 2-0 advantage.
  • Georgetown outshot Lehigh 27-6 with 12 shots on goal to the Mountain Hawks' four.  The Hoyas took two corner kicks to Lehigh's six and sophomore Giannis Nikopolidis had four saves and the win.
  • Junior captain Derek Dodson leads the team in scoring with 11 points on three goals and five assists.  He is followed by Montes with five goals for 10 points.
  • Sophomore Zach Riviere is third on the team with four goals and one assist for nine points, while Paul Rothrock rounds out the top four with a goal and a squad-high six assists for eight points on the season.
  • The Hoyas will play three games in seven days as the squad faced Lehigh on Tuesday and hosts Seton Hall on Friday.  On Monday, the Blue & Gray will make the short trip to College Park to take on the University of Maryland Terps in a 7 p.m. contest televised live on FS1.
 
About the Pirates
  • Seton Hall has won four straight after a 3-1 victory over Fordham on Tuesday.
  • A pair of second-half goals secured the win to mark the longest win streak since 2008.
  • Stephen Elias leads the team with 10 points on four goals and two assists.
  • The Hall sits tied for third place in the league right behind the Blue & Gray with six points.
 
Series with Seton Hall
  • The Hoyas are 19-16-3 all-time against the Pirates and 10-7-1 at home.
  • Last year, Georgetown downed Seton Hall 4-0 in New Jersey as Achara managed a pair of goals in the win.
