WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's tennis team competed in their last tournament this fall at the Harvard Invitational in Cambridge, Massachusetts this past weekend. The Hoyas battled opponents from Harvard, Boston University, Cornell and Syracuse.
During the singles rounds, Olivia Ashton went three sets with Rachel Lim (Harvard) before falling in the final set (6-3, 2-6, 10-2). Sofie Moenster was defeated by Mihaela Marculescu (Harvard) 6-2, 6-0 knocking her out of Flight 2.
In Flight 1, Agata Mikos and Natasha Gonzalez (Harvard) went back-and-forth during the first set but Gonzalez was able to outlast Mikos 7-5 and 6-1 for the win. Elena De Santis fell 6-3, 6-0 to Erica Di Battista (Boston University). Anna Short and Carmen Aizpurua came up short in Flight 3, with Short falling to Steph Nguyen (Boston University) 6-1, 6-1 and Aizpurua going down 6-2, 6-1 to Sophia Ho (Harvard).
