Hoyas Welcome Providence, No. 9 Creighton to the Hilltop

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's volleyball team takes on Providence and No. 9 Creighton at home this weekend in BIG EAST action. The Hoyas welcome the Friars to the Hilltop on Friday and host the Bluejays on Saturday. Friday's showdown with the Friars will be broadcast on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) with Monika Moore calling the play-by-play.

QUICK HITS
•    Georgetown is 12-14 overall to start the season and 2-10 in BIG EAST play.
•    The Hoyas are now fully in the second half of the BIG EAST schedule.
•    Two of Georgetown's three remaining home matches will be broadcast live on the BEDN.
•    Georgetown is looking to sweep Providence on the season and avenge an earlier season loss to Creighton.

ROTATION NOTES
•    Six different Hoyas are averaging at least a kill per set.
•    Iva Vujosevic leads the way with 3.60 kps, followed by Elissa Barbosa with 2.22 kps.  Peyton Wilhite (1.90), Margo Snipe (1.71), Riley Wertzberger (1.45) and Brennan Wilhite (1.24) round out the six.
•    Four Hoyas average at least two digs a set, led by Jessica Cusi's 3.62 and followed by Vujosevic (2.57), Barbosa (2.18) and Emma Plutnicki (2.07).
•    Makayla Serrett and Brennan Wilhite are battling for the team lead in blocks, averaging 0.78 and 0.77 bps, respectively.
•    Plutnicki averages 8.10 assists per set to pace the offense with Margo Pivonka adding 4.81 aps.
•    Vujosevic has recorded 43 service aces on the year, followed by Cusi with 24 and Plutnicki with 15.

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
Providence
•    Providence comes to the Hilltop with a 6-19 overall record and a 1-11 mark in BIG EAST play. The Hoyas defeated the Friars in five sets back in September.
•    Vujosevic led the Hoyas with 14 kills while Barbosa added 13 kills to go with 10 digs for her fourth double-double of the season. Pivonka paced the offense with 36 assists.
•    Cusi led all players with 21 digs and Brennan Wilhite had eight kills and added seven blocks at the net.
•    For the Friars, Jennifer Leitman tied Vujosevic's match-high 14 kills and added 16 digs for a double-double. Allison Barber also had a double-double with 34 assists and 15 digs.
•    Leitman leads the Friars with 3.07 kps while Addison Root and Jenae Alderson add 2.49 and 2.01 kps, respectively. The offense runs through Barber with 8.25 aps and she also anchors the defense with 2.99 dps.

Creighton
•    Creighton comes to the Hilltop with a 19-3 overall record and in undefeated in BIG EAST play at 12-0. The Bluejays are currently ranked ninth in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll.
•    In a 3-1 setback in Omaha earlier this season,   Vujosevic led the Hoyas with a match-high 15 kills while Peyton Wilhite added nine kills and Barbosa chipped in six. Pivonka had a double-double with 27 assists and 12 digs.
•    Cusi paced the Blue & Gray with 14 digs and Peyton Wilhite led all players with five blocks while Serrett earned four.
•    For Creighton, Keeley Davis had 13 kills while Megan Ballenger added 10. Brittany Witt collected 20 digs.
•    Davis leads the Bluejays with 3.17 kps, followed by Erica Kostelac (2.92), Jaela Zimmerman (2.83) and Ballenger (2.13). Madelyn Cole averages 11.04 aps to pace the offense.
•    Defensively, Witt averages 4.93 dps and Ballenger is just shy of a block a frame at 0.96 bps.
