WASHINGTON – Four Hoyas scored in double figures as the Georgetown University men's basketball team defeated former BIG EAST rival Syracuse 89-79 on Saturday afternoon at Capital One Arena. With their third-straight victory, the Hoyas improve to 7-3 on the season, while the Orange slip to 5-5.

HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
- Mac McClung's 26 points led all scorers and led a quartet of Hoyas in double figures. The guard knocked down 7-of-16 from the floor including a trio of 3-pointers and was 9-of-10 from the charity stripe.
- Omer Yurtseven tallied 19 points and tied with Jamorko Pickett for team-high honors with nine boards.
- Jagan Mosely put together a complete game as he managed 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including four 3-pointers, while grabbing seven rebounds, dishing out five assists, tallying one steal and recording one block.
- Terrell Allen put up 14 points and handed out six assists while registering a pair of steals.
- Georgetown shot 44.3 percent (27-of-61) from the floor and shot at a 44.0 percent (11-of-25) clip from downtown.
- The Hoyas outrebounded the Orange 41-29.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game went back and forth early with both teams trading buckets and the game knotted at 15.
- Despite Cuse taking the 16-15 advantage, Georgetown tallied six unanswered behind back-to-back triples, one apiece from Mosely and Jahvon Blair.
- Following a pair of free throws from Mosely, it was all McClung who tallied six of GU's next seven points with the Blue & Gray taking a 30-23 lead.
- Syracuse pulled back into the game and tied it at 34 but the Hoyas closed the frame on a 14-2 run fueled by 11 from McClung, including a buzzer-beating 3-pointer, to take a 48-26 lead at the break.
- The Hoyas started the second half strong, extending the lead to 14 on an Allen bucket. The Hoyas maintained comfortable breathing room, leading by as many as 16 (55-39) on McClung's third trey of the game.
- SU wouldn't go away, cutting the deficit to nine, but the Blue & Gray pushed it right back to double digits, twice on Mosely buckets.
- As the minutes ticked down, the Orange closed to nine once again (66-57) but this time Blair had the longball answer on the left side with 7:56 to play. Blair followed up with another 3-pointer, to extend the advantage to 15.
- Once again, SU pulled within nine but five straight from Yurtseven, capped by a commanding dunk, gave the Hoyas a commanding 82-68 lead.
- The Hoyas would never look back, as late free throws by Allen and McClung secured the 89-79 win at the final whistle.
OF NOTE
- McClung's 21 points in the first half was a career best in a single frame for the sophomore.
- The four made 3-pointers for Mosely were a career high and he and Pickett each tied a personal best in rebounds.
