PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Georgetown University men's basketball team dropped a 76-60 decision to Providence at the Dunkin' Donuts Center to open BIG EAST Conference play. With the road setback, the Hoyas slip to 10-4 overall with a 0-1 record in league action. The Friars improve to 8-6 on the season with a 1-0 record in BIG EAST play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Georgetown got in a hole as Providence pulled away in the first few minutes and the Hoyas trailed by 18 early (22-4).
- Hot from beyond the arc, Providence took a 54-23 lead into the break.
- The Hoyas opened the second half on a 17-6 run to cut the deficit to 20 (60-40) fueled by a pair of 3-pointers from Blair and one apiece from Pickett and Mosely.
- A Yurtseven bucket sparked seven unanswered for the Blue & Gray and cut the margin to 17 (64-47) with 11:08 in the half.
- A late 6-0 run, behind four points from Allen and a Qudus Wahab basket brought the score to 74-60, but Georgetown wouldn't get any closer as the Friars sealed the 76-60 victory at the final whistle.
COMING UP NEXT
The Hoyas will play at Seton Hall on Friday, Jan. 31 in a 9 p.m. contest. The game will be broadcast on FS1 and fans can listen locally on The Team 980 with Rich Chvotkin on the call.
