Hoyas Eye Another Season Sweep Against Butler on Saturday

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team (15-8, 5-5 BIG EAST) returns to the Nation's Capital as it looks to complete the season sweep against Butler (13-10, 4-6 BIG EAST) at Capital One Arena on Saturday afternoon. Tipoff is scheduled for noon and a link to live stats is available at GUHoyas.com.
 
The game can be seen live on MASN2 with Brandon Gaudin calling the play-by-play and Tarik Turner serving as the color analyst. The game can be heard locally on The Team 980 radio station with Rich Chvotkin in his 45th season on the call.
 
Georgetown is coming off a 76-67 victory against Providence on Wednesday night. Josh LeBlanc (Baton Rouge, La. / Madison Prep Academy) led five in double figures with 17 points on a 5-of-8 effort from the field to go with a perfect 6-for-6 performance at the charity stripe. Additionally, he grabbed a team-best 11 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season. Jessie Govan (Queens Village, N.Y. / Wings Academy) and Mac McClung (Gate City, Va. / Gate City) each chipped in 13 points while Jamorko Pickett (Washington, D.C. / Massanutten Military Academy [Va.]) added 12 on a perfect 4-for-4 showing from downtown. James Akinjo (Oakland, Calif. / Salesian College Preparatory) rounded out those in double figures with 10 points. Akinjo also dished out eight helpers to pace the offense.
 
Govan continues to pace Georgetown with 18.3 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game, ranking fourth and third in the BIG EAST, respectively. Akinjo and McClung both average double figures with 13.9 and 13.2 ppg. LeBlanc continues to improve as he raises his scoring average to 9.9 ppg and is second on GU in rebounding with 7.6 boards a contest. Akinjo is second in the BIG EAST in assists with 123 on the season, averaging 5.3 apg. As a team, Georgetown ranks first in the BIG EAST in multiple categories through 23 games, including scoring offense (82.1), rebounding offense (40.3) and assists per game (17.5).
 
In the first meeting with Butler, it was Greg Malinowski (Chantilly, Va. / Episcopal / William & Mary) leading the way for the Blue & Gray as he poured in 26 points including six 3-pointers as the Hoyas defeated the Bulldogs 84-76. Malinowski's career night came from 10-of-12 shooting from the field including an impressive 6-of-7 performance from beyond the arc. Govan added 17 points while LeBlanc chipped in 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting and Akinjo tallied 12 to round out those in double figures. Malinowski stuffed the stat sheet as he grabbed a team-best seven rebounds and his quartet of assists led the squad.

Butler is coming off a home win against Seton Hall this past Saturday. Paul Jorgensen led the Bulldogs with 18 points off the bench, including four threes. Senior Nate Fowler chipped in 15 points while Kamar Baldwin tallied 10 points in the win.
 
Baldwin leads Butler with 17.2 ppg while Jorgenson and McDermott are both in double figures with 11.7 and 10.1 ppg, respectively. Baldwin also pulls down a team-best 5.1 rpg and Joey Brunk paces the offense with 4.2 apg.

Following Saturday's game, the Hoyas will hit the road on Wednesday, Feb. 13 as they square off against Seton Hall. Tipoff is slated for 8:30 p.m.
