WASHINGTON– The Georgetown University women's tennis team fell to Temple by a score of 4-1 on Tuesday morning at the Junior Tennis Champions Center in College Park, Maryland. With the loss, the Hoyas slip to 2-10 overall while the Owls improve to 8-3.
The Owls got out to an early lead, winning both the doubles matches to clinch the first overall point of the day.
In singles,
Risa Nakagawa (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. / Palos Verdes Peninsula) tallied the only GU point of the contest, defeating Kristina Titova in straight sets at No. 2 6-1, 6-3. At No. 1
Sofie Moenster (Oslo, Norway / Ordrup Gymnasium) battled her opponent to three sets but dropped the decision 4-6, 6-2, 6-10 to give the Owls their final point.
GU will play St. John's on Friday, March 15 in its fifth of seven BIG EAST Conference matches. The match is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. at Yates Field House.
