WASHINGTON – The No. 21 Georgetown University women's lacrosse team fell 21-11 to the No. 1 Boston College Eagles (9-0) on Saturday at the Newton Campus Lacrosse and Soccer Field. With the loss, the Hoyas fall to 5-3 on the season and are in the midst of a tough road stretch against top-25 opponents.

Francesca Whitehurst (Baltimore, Md. / Roland Park Country School) led the way for the Blue & Gray with a hat trick, while junior midfielder

Morgan Ryan (Maplewood, N.J. / Oak Knoll School) and junior midfielder
Liza Liotta (Baltimore, Md. / St. Paul's School for Girls) had two goals apiece. In goal, junior
Micheline DiNardo (Rye, N.Y. / Rye) played 47 minutes and had five saves in the contest.
The Hoyas were outshot 29-20 and pulled in just nine draw controls to BC's 24. The defense forced 10 Eagle turnovers as GU committed just eight in the game.
The Eagles opened the contest with a 9-0 run spanning the first 11 minutes as GU was on its heels. Sophomore midfielder
Mary Pagano (Short Hills, N.J. / The Pingry School) ended the run with an unassisted goal at 18:40. BC answered with three more to make it 12-1 at the 12-minute mark.
Georgetown still had some fight left as a goal from Liotta at the nine-minute mark sparked a 4-1 run. Liotta added another in the run and Whitehurst and Lynch both added unassisted tallies to make it 13-5 at the half.
Ryan began the second half with a goal at 28:33 and Whitehurst followed it up with her second of the contest before BC could answer with two of their own. Ryan scored on a pass from junior attacker
Michaela Bruno (Garden City, N.Y. / Garden City) as the Hoyas were cruising before the Eagles came back with three more to make it 18-8.

Taylor Gebhardt (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / C.W. Baker) was followed by two from the Eagles. As the minutes ticked away, Lynch and Whitehurst sandwiched an Eagle goal to make it 21-11 at the final whistle.
