WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team fell to East Tennessee State University 4-0 on Friday evening in the first of a three-game series at Thomas Stadium in Johnson City, Tennessee. With the loss, the Hoyas drop to 6-20 on the year while ETSU moves to 20-5.
Jeremiah Burke (Delmar, N.Y. / Bethlehem Central / La Salle Institute) started on the mound and went 6.0 innings allowing four runs, three earned, on five hits and three walks while striking out six.
Owen Lamon (Herndon, Va. / Oakton) struck out one in a scoreless inning and
Anthony Redfern (Andover, Mass. / Phillips Andover) fired a perfect inning in relief.
Freddy Achecar II (Atlanta, Ga. / Lovett School) and
Ryan Weisenberg (Parkland, Fla. / San Ramon Valley [Calif.]) paced the offense with a pair of hits each.
ETSU took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a solo home run. The Buccaneers tacked on two more in the fourth, one of which was unearned, to go up 3-0. A sacrifice fly in the fifth provided the final margin, 4-0.
The Hoyas threatened with two runners on base in each the second, sixth and ninth innings, but could not mount a comeback.
