Hoyas Finish Fifth in a Pair of Regattas

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University sailing team raced in a pair of regattas this past weekend and placed fifth in both events. The Hoyas finished fifth in the Admiral Moore Team Race, hosted by SUNY Maritime, and the Seahawk Women's Team Race, hosted by St. Mary's College.

Admiral Moore Team Race (March 23-24; Throggs Neck, N.Y.)
Due to Saturday's racing being wiped out because it was too windy, one round robin and a final four round robin was completed on Sunday. Sailors arrived to excellent racing conditions and a classic East River spring tide Sunday morning with the breeze ranging between 8-12 knots out of the west-southwest.

Twenty-eight races were completed in the first round. Georgetown placed fifth out of eight teams with a final record of 6-4. Noah Kelleher (Upton, Mass. / Concord Academy), Ford McCann (Houston, Texas / Episcopal) and Andrew Person (Newport Beach, Calif. / Newport Harbor) served as the skippers, while Maya Rabinowitz (Wilmette, Ill. / New Trier), Jack Hogan (Los Angeles, Calif. / Harvard-Westlake), Hannah Hess (Inverness, Ill. / Loyola Academy), Gwynie Dunlevy (San Francisco, Calif. / Convent of the Sacred Heart) and Lucy Beimfohr (Short Hills, N.J. / Deerfield Academy) represented the crew.

The Blue & Gray's finish qualified the team for the 2019 Prosser Regatta.

Results (top 5 of 8): 1. Hobart (9-1); 2. Fordham (8-2); 3. Roger Williams (5-5); 4. Penn (5-5); 5. Georgetown (6-4)
