WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's golf team wrapped up play at the very competitive Bryan National Collegiate, placing 16th out of a strong 17-team field. The Hoyas carded a three-round score of 73-over par 937, turning in individual rounds of 315, 312 and 310. The tournament, hosted by Wake Forest, was played at the par 72, 6,305-yard Championship Course at Bryan Park in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The host Demon Deacons won their own tournament, running away with a 34-under par 830. North Carolina came in second at 2-under par 862, while North Carolina State (2-over par 866), Charlotte (11-over par 875) and Oregon State (19-over par 883) rounded out the top five.
Alexa Popowitz (Boca Raton, Fla. / St. Andrew's) was Georgetown's top finisher, tying for 67th place with a 15-over par 231 over the three rounds. She improved each day, carding a 78 on Friday, a 79 on Saturday and finishing it out with a 76 on Sunday.
Pendleton Bogache (Myrtle Beach, S.C. / Episcopal [Va.]) tied for 71st at 17-over par 233. She turned in scores of 77 on Saturday and Sunday after carding a 79 on Friday.
Baili Park (Germantown, Tenn. / Houston High School) finished a 21-over par 237 to tie for 79th.
Christina Parsells (Bernardsville, N.J. / Kent Place) tied for 86th with a 23-over par 239 while
Kate Evanko (West Chester, Pa. / Unionville) turned in a three-round score of 24-over par 240 to finish 89th.
Next up, Georgetown will host the 2019 Hoya Invitational, April 8-9, to close out the regular season. The two-day, three-round tournament will take place at Four Streams in Beallsville, Maryland.
