WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's golf team carded a 20-over par 308 over the first 18 holes on Monday, finishing in a tie for 10th place at the weather-shortened River Landing Classic. Monday's second round was suspended due to darkness and then Tuesday's action was cancelled because of snow. The tournament, hosted by UNC Wilmington, at the River Landing Golf Club in Wallace, North Carolina, reverted to team's first round scores for the final standings.
 
The Hoyas turned in a 308 to tie for 10th with UNCG, finishing one shot ahead of BIG EAST rival Seton Hall. Middle Tennessee recorded the top score with a 2-over par 290. Campbell, Rutgers, East Tennessee State and Memphis all carded scores of 296 to round out of the top five.
 
Alexa Popowitz (Boca Raton, Fla. / St. Andrew's) was GU's top finisher, turning in a 2-over par 74 to finish in a tie for 17th place. Fellow senior Christina Parsells (Bernardsville, N.J. / Kent Place) tied for 40th with a 5-over par 77. Junior Ashley Fitzgibbons (Sammamish, Wash. / Eastlake Senior) shot a 6-over par 78 to tie for 47th, while senior Pendleton Bogache (Myrtle Beach, S.C. / Episcopal [Va.]) was one stroke behind her at 7-over par 79 and freshman Baili Park (Germantown, Tenn. / Houston High School) carded an 8-over par 80.
 
Junior Kate Evanko (West Chester, Pa. / Unionville) competed as an individual and recorded a 15-over par 87.
 
The Hoyas will next be in action when they travel to South Carolina for the Briar's Creek Invitational, March 18-19. The tournament, which is hosted by the College of Charleston, will be held at The Golf Club at Briar's Creek in John's Island, South Carolina.
