Hoyas Close Out Regular Season at No. 16/15 Marquette

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's basketball team (18-12, 8-9 BIG EAST) wraps up the 2018-19 regular season with a road test at No. 16/15 Marquette on Saturday in Milwaukee. The Hoyas are look to avenge an earlier season loss to the Golden Eagles and break away from the logjam in the middle of the BIG EAST standings for seeding in the upcoming BIG EAST Tournament Presented by Jeep.
 
Tipoff is set for 2:30 p.m. ET and the game can be seen live on FOX with Tim Brando calling the play-by-play and Stephen Bardo providing analysis. Fans can listen locally on The Team 980 and SiriusXM channel 309 / 981 with Rich Chvotkin in his 45th season on the call.
 
Georgetown is coming off a 101-69 loss at DePaul on Wednesday. Mac McClung (Gate City, Va. / Gate City) and James Akinjo (Oakland, Calif. / Salesian College Preparatory) each tallied 13 points on the night as the lone Hoyas in double figures. Josh LeBlanc (Baton Rouge, La. / Madison Prep Academy), the reigning BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, grabbed eight rebounds to lead the squad and his four rejections was a game high. Akinjo's seven helpers paced the GU offense.
 
Jessie Govan (Queens Village, N.Y. / Wings Academy) leads three Hoyas in double figures with 17.9 points per game while averaging 7.7 rebounds per game, ranking sixth and fourth in the BIG EAST, respectively. He was recently named a top-5 finalist for the 2019 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, recognizing the top center in men's college basketball.
 
McClung and Akinjo add 13.0 and 12.9 ppg in the backcourt. LeBlanc ranks second on GU in rebounding, and fifth in the BIG EAST, with 7.6 boards a contest and continues to be efficient in the offensive zone ranking fourth in the conference in field goal percentage at 62.6 percent. Akinjo leads the BIG EAST in assists with 161 on the season.
 
Marquette hosts the Blue & Gray looking to snap a three-game losing streak. Markus Howard, the BIG EAST scoring leader, paces the Golden Eagles with 24.9 ppg while Sam Hauser adds 15.1 ppg. Joey Hauser is right behind the duo with 9.6 ppg. Howard runs the offense with 4.0 apg and Sam Hauser hauls in the team-best 7.1 rpg.
 
Georgetown and Marquette previously squared off on Jan. 15 in a game that came down to the final minute. Hoyas fell just short 74-71 in the Nation's Capital. McClung led the Blue & Gray with 24 points on a 7-of-11 effort from the floor including four 3-pointers. Govan tallied 14 points while Kaleb Johnson (South Hill, Va. / The Carlisle School) chipped in 12 points to round out those in double figures. Govan's nine rebounds led the squad while Akinjo recorded a game-best eight assists. Sam Hauser led the Golden Eagles with 31 points.

Following Saturday's game, the Hoyas head to New York to take part in the BIG EAST Tournament. Seeding will be determined at the conclusion of Saturday's slate of conference games.
