WASHINGTON – Over the weekend, the Georgetown University sailing team competed in the Prosser Trophy Regatta, hosted by St. Mary's College, and finished first out of eight teams to win the conference championship and earn an automatic berth to the Team Race Nationals in May.
Prosser Trophy (April 6-7; St. Mary's City, Md.)
At the MAISA Team Racing Championship, the top eight teams in the league qualified to compete for the conference title and four berths to the national championship were on the line.
Light winds made for numerous delays, but the regatta ran well to get two full round robins of quality racing in before the cutoff time on Sunday. The Hoyas sailed well in both rounds and came into the final race of the regatta tied with Navy atop of the field with matching 11-2 records. The teams had split their previous two races and GU's final race was against Hobart, who started out strong, but the Blue & Gray edged out one of the Hobart boats from getting back to the line and won the race and championship.

Andy Reiter (San Diego, Calif. / Point Loma),
Jack Reiter (Point Loma, Calif. / Point Loma),
