WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University sailing team closed out its regular season over the weekend at the MAISA Conference Championship for the America Trophy, hosted by Navy, as well as hosted the Robert Arrigan Memorial Regatta in Washington, D.C. The Hoyas placed fourth in the America Trophy to advance to the Gill College Sailing Coed National Championship next month in Newport, Rhode Island.
America Trophy (April 27-28; Annapolis, Md.)
The MAISA Coed Championship featured the top 18 teams in the conference with the top nine advancing to the Gill College Sailing Coed National Championship next month in Newport, Rhode Island. Racing on Saturday morning started in 15-20 knots out of the west with gusts at 25 knots, increasing to 30 as the day went on. In the afternoon, it tapered to 10-15 knots. Eight races in each division were completed. On Sunday, sailors arrived to tough conditions and were postponed ashore until 11:00 a.m.
The Blue & Gray finished fourth with a total of 123 points. Both Divisions sailed in 12 races each, with the A Division finishing fourth with a total of 69 points and the B Division finishing third tallying 54 points.
Sean Segerblom (Costa Mesa, Calif. / Newport Harbor),
Rebecca Fung (Rye, N.Y. / Rye) and
Jack Reiter (Point Loma, Calif. / Point Loma) led the A Division while
William Logue (Cos Cob, Conn. / St. George's),
Andy Reiter (San Diego, Calif. / Point Loma) and
Caroline Teare (St. Thomas, Virgin Islands / Antilles School) sailed in the B Division.

Arrigan Memorial Regatta (April 27-28; Washington, D.C.)
The Hoyas hosted the Arrigan Memorial Regatta in Washington, D.C. over the weekend as well, treating the regatta as two separate events on Saturday and Sunday. Georgetown had five boats compete on Saturday and six boats on Sunday with several different lineups to showcase its depth. The Blue & Gray finished as high as second place with 21 points on Saturday and eighth place with 35 points on Sunday.
Local rival George Washington, St. Mary's, Navy and Old Dominion also raced in the regattas.
