WASHINGTON – Georgetown University has added Brad Whitaker (Kensington, Md, / Gonzaga) to the 2019-20 men's golf roster, as announced by Head Coach
Tommy Hunter on Wednesday. A local standout at Gonzaga College High School, Whitaker comes to the Hilltop after playing his freshman season at Siena.
"We are excited to have Brad join us here on the Hilltop," Hunter said. "This past year at Siena he experienced what it takes to be competitive at the Division I level. His success in many AJGA events demonstrates his ability to compete against national caliber talent."
At Gonzaga, Whitaker was named First Team All-Met by the Washington Post in 2018 and was a second team Washington Catholic Athletic Association (WCAC) selection in 2017. He helped the Eagles dominate the WCAC as Gonzaga won eight league titles in a nine-year span.
Whitaker was the top-ranked player in Maryland by Junior Golf Scoreboard and was ranked No. 404 nationally in the class of 2018 in the American Junior Golf Association rankings. He posted a 73.20 scoring average in seven AJGA tournaments and obtained fully-exempt status with the AJGA.
In his lone season at Siena, Whitaker played in seven events. He tied for 17th at the UConn Invite at Great Horse during the fall and placed 22nd at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship to close out the season.
Georgetown graduated two seniors in 2019 and returns nine student-athletes in 2019-20. The Hoyas have won four BIG EAST Championships, including two of the last four in 2016 and 2018.
