WASHINGTON – Three seniors on the Georgetown University men's golf team have been named captains for the upcoming 2019-20 campaign, Head Coach
Tommy Hunter announced on Monday.
Eduardo Blochtein (Delray Beach, Fla. / Spanish River),
Hardin Councill (High Point, N.C. / Westchester Country Day) and
Patrick DiPasquale (Rochester, N.Y. / McQuaid Jesuit) will lead the Hoyas the upcoming season.
"Our senior captains are veteran players who have experienced the demands of being a student-athlete at the Division I level," Hunter said. "Over the course of their three years learning from past captains, they are certainly prepared to lead our group this year. They are committed to creating a team culture that is unified and successful."
Blochtein led the Blue & Gray with a 73.10 stroke average and was named First Team All-BIG EAST last season. He posted a pair of top-10 finishes, including a fourth-place showing at the Georgetown Intercollegiate and an eighth-place performance at the Princeton Invitational. Blochtein also notched a pair of back-to-back 12th-place finishes in Florida at the USF Invitational and the FAU Spring Championship.
Councill, second on the team with a 74.03 stroke average last season, also recorded a top-10 finish at the Princeton Invitational with a seventh-place showing and closed out the season with back-to-back 14th-place finishes at the Rutherford Intercollegiate and the BIG EAST Championship. Councill collected BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week accolades in the fall after finishing 12th overall at the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate.
DiPasquale tallied a 74.83 stroke average as a junior. He put together his most impressive tournament to date at the Villanova Wildcat Fall Invitational, tying for medalist honors at the tournament. DiPasquale also owns the best individual round for any Hoya last season, carding a 5-under 66 at the Georgetown Intercollegiate.
The Hoyas return nine student-athletes in 2019-20 and welcome three newcomers to the fold. Georgetown has won four BIG EAST Championships, including two of the last four in 2016 and 2018.
