Nealis Named to MAC Hermann Trophy Preseason Watch List

WASHINGTON –  Georgetown University men's soccer senior defender Dylan Nealis (Massapequa, N.Y. / Massapequa) was named to the 2019 Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) Hermann Trophy Watch List, presented by World Wide Technology on Thursday.  The team captain was one of 36 Division I men's players selected.

Nealis was the 2018 BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year, a First Team All-East Region selection and a First Team All-BIG EAST honoree.  As a defender, Nealis was fourth on the team in scoring with two goals and a squad-best seven assists for 11 points.  Those seven assists tied him for second in the BIG EAST.  He tallied two game winners, and on the defensive end, helped the squad to a BIG EAST-best 10 shutouts for the year.

Georgetown was one of just seven schools to have honorees on both the men's and women's lists and the only institution from the BIG EAST Conference.  Additionally, Nealis was the lone player from the BIG EAST named to the men's watch list.

The MAC Hermann Trophy, presented by World Wide Technology, is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer and is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female players of the year. This year's winners will be announced in early January at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.

The Hoyas will return to campus to begin the 2019 season next week.
